This creamy, cheesy chicken wing dip won’t confuse all the flavors of your favorite spicy buffalo chicken wings. Make it in an oven or slow cooker and serve with crispy chips, crudites, or obstacles you want.
I’m all about the spicy, tangy flavor of buffalo chicken. Try it with my buffalo chicken pizza or, then grilled cheese!

This hot chicken wing dip is an explosion of warm, cheerful flavour. It’s my latest baked dip obsession, a buffalo hot sauce with melted cheese, juicy shredded chicken and buffalo hot sauce mixed with some other delicious condiments. If you like the spicy buffalo chicken flavor and aren’t too keen to stick your hands, try this dip. It’s the best!
Why do you like this spicy buffalo chicken wing dip?
It’s like eating hot wings without confusion. Skip the sticky fingers on the day of the game and instead push the crispy chips into this chicken wing dip. It has all the sweet, spicy flavours of the classic Buffalo Chicken Wings, so you don’t have to worry about whether you have enough cocktail napkins to go around. It’s two ways. I baked this dip in the oven and made it as a 1-pot recipe in a party slow cooker. It’s tasty in both ways. You can also always move it from the oven to the crockpot to keep it warm! It’s quick and easy. It takes a few minutes to mix the dip. If your family is like me, you already have ingredients like wing sauce, ranch dressing, barbecue sauce, cream cheese stuffed in the fridge and more. Even if you don’t, everything you need to make this dip is available right away at the grocery store.

What you need
These are some notes about the ingredients I use for my chicken wing dip. I’ve seen some 5 iconic recipes there, and found out I’ll be taking this buffalo wing dip to other levels with some extras like honey mustard and barbecue sauce! See the price printable recipe cards for the full ingredients list.
Cream Cheese – I recommend Full Fat Cream Cheese. Bring it to room temperature in advance to make it easier to mix. Buffalo Wing Sauce – This will make any hot wing sauce you want. My favorite is Frank’s Redhot® Wings. Feel free to choose a spicy or mild sauce to suit your taste. Ranch Dressings and Seasonings – Choose your favorite bottle dressing from the store and a packet of seasoning mix like Hidden Valley. BBQ Sauce – Either store-bought BBQ sauce or homemade BBQ sauce. Honey Mustard – Like the barbecue sauce, I use homemade honey mustard recipes, but I also use store-bought pieces. Blue Cheese – In my house, I can’t eat buffalo chicken without blue cheese! I recommend crunchy blue cheese, like Gorgonzola. Needed as a dip and decoration. If the blue cheese isn’t yours, you can skip it or taste the goat cheese, feta, or blue cheese dressing to replace it. Monterey Jack Cheese – You can also substitute shredded cheddar, colby or pepper jack cheese. Chicken – Pre-cooked shredded chicken works well here. I shredded it using the whole rotisserie chicken, but I can use the rest of the chicken too. Green onion – for decoration.

How to Slow Cooker
Every time we expect a company, we love making this dip in our slow cooker. It’s the perfect make-ahead appetizer! It’s as easy as combining all the ingredients (except the green onions) for slow cookers and thieves. Mix it together and set it to lower for 2-3 hours. Serve with blue cheese and onion and stir in the final stir before serving.

Tips and Variations
Soften the cream cheese. If you forget to remove the cream cheese from the fridge in advance (I’ve been there), you can quickly soften it by releasing it in microwaves for a few seconds and keeping it warm. I want to make it softer, but it won’t melt. Use newly shredded cheese. Be sure to grate freshly, whether you use Monterey Jack, Cheddar or another melted cheese in this dip recipe. The newly shredded cheese is better than Cherred cheese (packaged cheese has a waxy preservative that won’t melt smoothly). Do you have blue cheese? If you like blue cheese and can’t find the real thing you’re in, try drizzling the top of the dip you’ve finished with blue cheese dressing instead. You can add it to the dip, but start with a small amount and add it to the flavor.

Provide suggestions
I warm up this chicken wing soak from an oven with celery and carrot-like chips, crackers and vegetable sticks. Even soft pretzel bites are great! This wing dip is a fun and easy appetizer to bring to parties or potlucks, and the best way to enjoy all the flavors of Buffalo wings on match days. Serve more party snacks like mini corndogs and pigs with blankets or cowboy caviar.

Storage and reheat remaining dips
Refrigerated. Cool the dips to room temperature, cover and refrigerate for up to 3 days. Reheat. You can reheat oven-warm leftovers or oven dips at 350ºF until they are hot again.
