This homemade butterscotch pie is something your grandmother might have made! It’s tasty.

If you like these delicious, old fashioned pie, you’ll need to add this sweet chocolate pie to your recipe box. There are incredible reviews and the reason is classic.

❤️ I love this recipe

If you love butterscotch, this pie will be one of your favorites. This is an old-fashioned recipe that has been in my collection for a long time. I remember my mother making this creamy butterscotch pie. This pie is 100% made from scratch and I love spending that time in the kitchen. Making pie from scratch can be nostalgic. However, if you don’t want to make pie crusts, use the store where you purchased them.

Tip

When the instructions say “continuously stir,” it means never leaving and always stirring. If you don’t do this, it sticks and burns. That’s exactly what it means when it stirs until it’s thick. If you read some of the comments about this recipe, someone says “I didn’t set it up.” That’s because you didn’t follow the instructions.

Also, chill the pie before adding the meringue. Also, store this pie in the fridge.

meringue

3 Egg white1/4 cup sugar1 Small spoons Vanilla extract

Bake the crust and let cool. In a pot on the stove, mix the milk, sugar, cornstarch, egg yolk, vanilla and salt. Add butter to the dress. Cook over medium heat for 5-7 minutes until the butter has melted and the mixture is thick. This burns easily, so stir constantly. When it’s thick, remove from the heat and pour into the pie crust. Make your pie cool to add meringue.

Meringue direction

Start pounding the egg whites and add the sugar as you beat it. Add vanilla and continue until a peak forms. It spreads across the pie covering the entire pie. Bake in a preheated 350-degree oven until browned before, or place under a broiler to turn brown.

Allow the pie to cool completely before storing in the fridge.
