If you’ve ever wanted a dip that requires very little effort but still has people milling around the bowl, this Cream Cheese Onion Dip is your moment. Turn a few everyday ingredients into a creamy, flavorful spread that your guests will want to ask for the recipe before sitting down. Then mix it with a blender. Even when I cut a mountain of onions, I don’t cry. Never babysit anything on the stove. Stir and let cool, being careful not to eat half of it with a spoon.

Ingredient notes + variations
This Cream Cheese Onion Dip uses simple ingredients that you know how to put together. Everything blends into a smooth texture that leaves you begging for another ladle.
The sweet onions add a slight natural sweetness, giving it a mellow taste. The red onion sharpens things up enough that the dip doesn’t feel embarrassing. Cream cheese creates a rich, velvety base that’s perfect for dips. Mayonnaise brings richness. Duke’s brand is my favorite for this recipe. The sour cream should have a smooth, spoonable texture. The vegetable bouillon base creates a framework of flavor and adds depth to the dip.

How to make cream cheese onion dip
This dip is incredibly easy. Place everything in a blender, give it a quick whir, and let it cool until the flavors settle and thicken. For recipe details, including required ingredients and quantities, see the possible recipe cards below.
Step 1: Prepare the onions
Roughly chop the sweet onion and red onion.
Step 2: Blend everything
Add onions, cream cheese, mayonnaise, sour cream, and vegetable bouillon base to a blender and blend until smooth.
Step 3: Cool
Transfer to an airtight container and refrigerate until ready to eat.

tips for success
Chill until the dip is solid. Immediately after blending, it will be loose, so cooling it will thicken it and settle into the appropriate texture. Cream cheese mixes easily when used at room temperature. Taste before serving and add a little more bouillon base if you want a deeper flavor.
