An overhead view of the filet mignon in the air fryer is cut into slices next to baked potatoes and forks on a plate.

I love steak, but when I scattered prime cuts like filet mignon, I was always a little hesitant. Mainly because I’m afraid to drive away such expensive cuts (who’s with me?). When I first tried the Air Fryer Filet Mignon, I couldn’t believe my luck. This is an easy and innocent alternative to cooking filet mignon in a cast iron skillet. The air fryer removes all speculation from cooking a completely soft and juicy steak!

Why do you make this the best air fryer filet mignon recipe?

It is cooked perfectly every time. Cooking filet mignon in an air fryer guarantees a juicy cut-like butter steak that cooks in minutes. There’s no need to worry about questioning whether the pot is heat, smoking oil, or whether it’s burning rather than baking. Steakhouse experience at home. More affordable than eating out, this air fried filet mignon is as flavorful as my favorite steakhouse order. On the sides towards the garlic butter and crunchy baked potatoes! Homemade composite butter. We share recipes for making garlic butter from scratch. It’s an easy way to boost your homemade filet mignon, and requires only four common ingredients.

Necessary materials

I want to let the steak talk about soft cuts like filet mignon. This recipe keeps your ingredients list short! I have included notes below. Post-posted recipe cards will have a full printable recipe for steak and a compound butter on the recipe cards.

Filet Mignon – Filet Mignon is a particularly tender cut of steak from beef tenderloin. Olive Oil – The oil helps the outside of a high-heat stachy staxia. I prefer the flavor of olive oil, but other vegetable oils like avocado oil and canola also work. Salt and pepper – Filet mignon is a mildly flavored prime cut, so seasonings often require no more than quality salt and pepper. But you can be generous. I use about 3/4 cups of kosher salt (or flake sea salt) and ½ teaspoon of freshly cracked pepper.

Easy Homemade Compound Butter

I like to prepare garlic herb compound butter first, so you can chill it in the fridge while cooking the steak to develop the flavor. Leave the butter to room temperature before you start. To make garlic butter:

Mix the butter with garlic and herbs.

Wrap and chill until the time comes to serve.

Combine the ingredients. In a bowl, tender the butter with mashed butter, salt, fresh garlic, parsley (or a choice of fresh herbs; thyme or rosemary will also work well here). Chill. Transfer the garlic butter to a plastic wrap or parchment board. Next, wrap it in tight logs and place in the fridge until ready to serve the steak.

How to cook filet mignon in your air fryer

Remove the steak from the fridge 30 minutes before cooking and allow to rest at room temperature. This way, it is clean on the outside and cooks evenly and evenly.

When you’re ready, follow the steps below to cook the air fryer filet mignon. Scroll to recipe cards for printable instructions.

Season the steak. Using your hands, rub the filet with olive oil and season with salt and pepper on each side. Air fly. Place the steak in a preheated 400ºF air fryer. Cook for medium rare or for your desired dongness for about 13 minutes (see below). Turn the steak over halfway through. Let the steak rest. After cooking, let filet mignon rest for at least 5 minutes. This allows the juice to be redistributed into the meat. serve. Just before serving, pour a pat of compound butter on each steak. See the section below for a quick suggestion!

Should filet mignon be aired on flyfly?

I’m familiar with my air fryer so I usually go alone only cooking time to know when my filet mignon hits a juicy medium rare. If you are unsure, or prefer a different level of donness, another way to check is to use a meat thermometer. A handy time and temperature guide for air fried steaks:

Unusual 13-14 minutes, or 11-12 minutes, or 125°F, medium rare 14-15 minutes, or 145°F for medium 16-18 minutes, or 155°F for medium wall/well dawn

Recipe Tips

Keeps the seasoning simple. You can use other seasonings like steak spices on Filet Mignon, but I’ve always found it best to start with a generous sprinkle of salt and pepper and build from there. If you don’t have garlic herb butter, you can taste herbs like parsley, thyme, rosemary, and garlic as well as the steak seasonings. Preheat the air fryer. When cooking filet mignon, make sure the air fryer is completely preheated to 400ºF. Just like a bread shearing steak, it should be cooked when placed in a basket. If the temperature is not hot enough, cooking the meat takes time and the risk will dry out. Leaves space between the steaks. Depending on the number of fillets you cooked and the size of your air fryer, you may need to cook them in batches. The key is to leave plenty of space between the steak pieces. Therefore, there is room for air to circulate. Would you like to flip it over or not? Technically, turning filet mignon over with an air fryer is an option as heat circulates during cooking. But to get a truly perfect sheer, I like setting a timer and flipping the steak midway through cooking time. Do not slice immediately. It is very important to let the steak rest after cooking. Just as charming as a quick dig, waiting 5-10 minutes will pay off the super tentacle slices.

Storage and reheat leftovers

Refrigerated. Store remaining filet mignon in an airtight container in the fridge for 3-4 days. Thinly slice the steak and enjoy it with a French dip sandwich or reheat the leftovers for another meal. See below. Reheat. Filet mignon can be reheated in a 350ºF air fryer until warm, or in an oven or microwave.
