Best Salad Recipe Salad De Maison (+Video)

The best family favorite salad recipe ever! This simple salad is made with fresh romaine lettuce, two different cheeses, crispy bacon, sweet tomatoes, crispy toasted almonds and fresh cucumbers.

My mother would often say that she is not a great salad maker, but that’s not true. Her strawberry fetapopy seed salad is one of my favorite salads. I can’t ask you enough to make it. Ah, she is also famous for her bowtie chicken pasta salad.

process

I started testing a simple family salad recipe that even kids wanted a few years ago, and no matter how hard I tried to find something, it always got a little more involved. Tell me you love cooking and say you love cooking…

So I go back to Salad des Maison’s Culinary Classy recipes and forget to do some searching. Over time, I realized that her recipes are really perfect for simple, healthy, quick and easy salad recipes.

Salad cheese is a big win for me, but which cheese is the best? I have tried all the different varieties. Cheddar completely overwhelmed the salad, and Switzerland slammed all the wrong notes. The haturti was soft and didn’t fall into the salad as I had hoped.

I finally settled on two cheeses. This salad changed the Manchego and Parmesan cheese makeover. Listen, Manchego can buy old or young ones, you need to decide whether you like something calmer or spicy. I honestly prefer the younger Manchego, but both are tasty and gentle. Parmesan adds a note of salty nuts that your salad needs to enhance the flavor.

What do you need to make a salad de maison?

We’ve talked about many of the ingredients you need for this simple green salad recipe, but here’s the complete list so you can see what you need.

Slivered Almond Bacon Roman Hearts Roman Tomato or Cherry Tomato English Cucumber Manchego Cheese

Lemon dressing

Light Extra Virgin Olive Oil Fresh Lemon Juice Dijon Mustard Honey Salt Black Pepper

I love the BLT flavor I have when all the ingredients are combined! Measurements and details of each ingredient can be found in the recipe at the end of the post.

The best way to make salads (salad de maison)

Before you start this salad, make sure you cooked the bacon and toasted the almonds. It seems a bit ridiculous to include steps to make a salad, but just in case you need it…

Combine all the ingredients in the salad in a bowl. In another small bowl, combine all the ingredients together for the dressing and whisk. Sprinkle the dressing over the salad and mix in the toss.

Complete instructions, including a complete list of recipe ingredients, can be found on the recipe card at the end of the post.

Variations

The salad is very adaptable depending on what you have in the fridge and what your family loves. Add vegetables (carrots, red onions, peas, snap peas, celery, etc.) to add avocados, add crowton, replace almonds with another type of nut, or add sunflower seeds or pepitas.

You can also add grilled chicken or grilled steak to make this salad a entree.

Perfect salad tips

Whenever you plan to test a new salad recipe, always make sure you have crunchy, creamy, sour, nutty, and lots of fresh vegetables. If you include all of this, there’s no mistake. Here are some tips for this recipe:

Rinse and dry the lettuce. You can either pat dry lettuce or use a salad spinner. If the lettuce is wet, the salad dressing is not clinging. Do not skip the almond toast. It really amplifies the flavor! Grate the cheese yourself. When you buy shredded cheese, it has a slightly different flavor. We’ll serve it as soon as the dressing is added. If it’s too long, the dressing will start to shrink the lettuce.

Can I halve or double the recipe?

Yes, definitely! Scale up or down depending on the size of the crowd you are feeding. Also, I prepare all the ingredients in the fridge so I can throw a bowl of salad together for lunch.

What to offer with Salad de Maison

This salad recipe will make the perfect side dish for almost any meal. There are comfortable foods like classic meatloaf, chicken pot pie and beef stroganoff. Also, anything outside the grill or smoker, such as smoked beef briskets, marinated smoked chicken thighs, or the best grilled steaks is great.

Storage Tips

Once the dressing is added to the salad, it will not last more than a day. If you know you have leftovers, we recommend storing the dressing and all the ingredients separately in the fridge and assemble them just before serving.

This salad is also a great make-up recipe. Place the rinse, chops and dry in lettuce and store in an airtight container in the fridge. Make the dressing and store in the fridge. Cook the bacon, toast the almonds and store in separate containers. Then assemble everything before serving.
