This delicious Chocolate Sea Salt Ice Cream is the perfect indulgence to whisper at the end of a long day. I don’t know what it is about sea salt ice cream that hooks me, but I’m hooked and there’s no going back.

Many of my recipes seem to be inspired by travel. And this was no exception. My sisters and I recently visited Santa Fe, New Mexico, and during our visit we found a place that served chocolate sea salt ice cream like this one. For me, it was love at first sight.

My sister didn’t really like sea salt ice cream, but I would have happily added more salt. When I got home, I knew I had to make that ice cream again. I am now happy to report that both were successful.

In fact, I love salted ice cream so much that I’ve recently started sprinkling salt on almost every spoonful of ice cream. If you think sea salt and chocolate is an unusual combination, we would like to introduce it to you!

Sea salt chocolate is one of my favorite combinations of salty and sweet. I always sprinkle Maldon sea salt flakes on desserts like chocolate chip pudding cookies. It takes them from really good to really brilliant.

The most common question I get is whether it is possible to make ice cream without a machine. The answer is yes. You can make ice cream without a machine. See complete instructions here.

I’m really proud of how this salted chocolate ice cream turned out. We have developed many flavors of ice cream. And I feel like the more I work with ice cream, the more comfortable I get with trying new things and making adjustments to get it to what I want. I’m excited to add this flavor to the long list of ice creams on this blog.

With over 160 ice cream recipes to choose from, there’s sure to be something for everyone. If you’re new to ice cream making, a great place to start is with vanilla ice cream, which is the easiest and best.

These are my favorite inexpensive containers for storing ice cream. Perfect for storing, reusing, and more as a gift (who doesn’t love homemade ice cream?). I write the flavor on the lid with a sharpie and wash it with dish soap.

I have more ice cream scoops than I can keep track of at the moment, and I’m definitely playing favorites. This ice cream scoop does the best job ever of cutting through hard ice cream and still delivers a sizeable scoop. It also gets bonus points because it’s one of the least expensive scoops I own.

Don’t miss our ice cream maker reviews for all the information you need to find the best ice cream maker for your needs. Spoiler alert – the top-rated machines under $50 may surprise you. I was definitely surprised!

sweet and salty dessert

Looking for more sweet and salty desserts? You’ve come to the right place, friends. I have a long list of treats that showcase both sides of that tasty coin. Get out your big spoon because this homemade salted caramel ice cream is rich, frosty perfection. These salty chocolate chip cookies are giant bakery-style cookies with crispy edges and a perfectly chewy center. This is a cookie that you must try.

If you like something sweet, salty, and crunchy, there’s also Sea Salt Pecan Toffee. And don’t miss this irresistible super-fast recipe with caramel turtle bark.

Combine cream, cocoa, sugar, and salt in a large saucepan. Whisk to combine, set over medium heat, and continue stirring until it begins to steam and boil. You can increase the heat if necessary, but don’t stop and keep stirring. Do not leave at this point.

Remove from heat and immediately add chocolate chips. Whisk until the chocolate is completely melted. Stir in milk, vanilla, and salt. Chill until completely chilled, at least 4 hours or overnight, then refrigerate.

Please follow the machine instructions. Enjoy immediately as soft serve ice cream, or transfer to a freezer-safe storage container and freeze until ready to serve. Sprinkle each serving with additional salt, if desired.
