The lifespan of such classic appetizer recipes is no surprise. I love the party recipes that require only four ingredients and simmer in a slow cooker while participating in other tasks. This is a very easy appetizer recipe to prepare and people love these little sweet and tangy cocktail bites!

Fully cooked sausages: They use smoked crope sausages like the kinds made by Hillshire Farm and Johnsonville. Jam: I always use apricot jam or peach jam in this recipe. Many other recipes require grape jelly, but there’s something about the apricot and peach flavors that I think complement the other ingredients very well.
Oil: Bake sliced sausages in small avocado oil (or other neutral oils) before throwing them into the slow cooker. You can skip this step if you like, but add a level of flavor to these little sausage bites that I really like

How to make crockpot cocktail sausages

Cook the sliced sausages in a little oil over high heat for just 1-2 minutes. Transfer the brown sausages to a double layer of paper towels and absorb them to remove excess oil. Add the barbecue sauce, chili sauce and jam, insert a 4-6 quart slow cooker and whisk well. Add the baked sausage and stir in the sauce. Cook high and low for 2-3 hours or 1 hour. As soon as they warm up, they are ready to serve.
Once the crockpot cocktail sausage is ready, set the slow cooker to the “warm” setting and provide some toothpicks nearby. It is not recommended to maintain a warm setting Over 3-4 hours.

Storage Tips
Transfer leftovers to an airtight container and refrigerate for up to 3-4 days. Reheat sausage bites in low heat or in a microwave in a frying pan.

Instructions
Heat the oil in a large frying pan over high heat. Fry the sausages in batches and saute for just 1-2 minutes until browned. Transfer the brown sausage to a double layer of paper towel and blow away any excess grease.
Add the barbecue sauce, chili sauce and jam, insert a 4-6 quart slow cooker and whisk until well combined. Add the baked sausages and mix. Cover, lower the slow cooker and cook for 2-3 hours or at height for 1 hour.
Setting the slow cooker to a warm environment will warm you up to 3-4 hours. Set up a cocktail pick nearby and allow people to serve themselves.
Note
To add heat, substitute spicy sausages (such as Andoullie) or use a spicy BBQ sauce. I like to use Kinder’s hot and mild BBQ sauce combination. perfection!
