If you want to know how to make the best coleslaw dressings, you’re in the right place! It’s creamy, tangy, lightly sweet, hitting that perfect balance and you’re back for another bite. I love it because it brings together in a few minutes and uses pantry staples and makes the coleslaw mix taste like it comes from a really good barbecue location. Plus, the longer it gets colder, the better it becomes.

Ingredient Notes + Variations

This Coleslaw dressing uses only a handful of everyday ingredients, but each one plays a role in making it completely creamy and flavorful. Here’s what you need to know:

Mayonnaise – Uses real mayonnaise on the base. It gives its classic creamy texture and flavour. White distilled vinegar – brings a tongue that prevents the dressing from heavy taste. Sugar – A little sweetness balances the vinegar. Salt – Enhances all flavors. Black pepper – add enough bite to close everything.

Pro Tip: If you are serving it on the same day, you can add your homemade dressing as soon as it’s ready. It is desirable to have the cabbage and dressing change the flavor in the fridge for a few hours, but if you want the salad to be extremely crispy, dress the saada up to the salad 30 minutes beforehand.

Tips for success

Chill at least 30 minutes beforehand for the best flavor. Taste and adjustment. If you like sweeter, add sugar or extra vinegar for the tang. Please give that first! The flavor will get even better after a few hours. Always throw it again before serving to recoat the cabbage.
