This oven-baked kofta is one of those recipes that will make your dinner feel special without much effort. This version uses a mix of lean ground beef and pork and combines it with simple spices like cumin, coriander, paprika, and a touch of garlic for maximum flavor and juiciness. The result is warm, fragrant, and deeply satisfying.

I like to press the meat mixture into a slab on a sheet pan, score it, and leave it to the oven. It’s easy and cooks perfectly every time. While baking, your kitchen will be filled with a pleasant, inviting aroma.

When done, the kofta will be golden brown and ready to enjoy. Serve with warm pita bread or flatbread, crunchy lettuce, fresh cucumbers, red onions, zesty pickles, and creamy yogurt tahini sauce. It’s a combination of textures and flavors that won’t disappoint.

Perfect for weeknight dinners, family meals, or casual gatherings with friends, this oven-baked kofta is simple, hearty, and always a crowd-pleaser. This is a recipe that everyone will keep coming back to.

How to make oven baked kofta

First, preheat the oven to 220°C (425°F) and grease an 8×13 inch (21×35 cm) sheet pan. Lay out parchment paper to make cleaning easier.

Combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, and eggs in a large bowl. Add the chopped onion, parsley, spices and oil and mix. Gently mix the ingredients together. Be careful not to overmix to keep the koftas soft.

Then press the mixture evenly into the prepared mold, about 3/4 inch (2 to 2.5 cm) thick. Smooth the top without over-compacting, and lightly score a 1-inch wide log with a knife or dough cutter. Drizzle olive oil over the top.

Bake on the middle oven rack for 12 minutes, then transfer to the top rack and bake until golden and slightly crispy, 3 to 4 minutes. Let the kofta rest for 3 minutes before serving.

Meanwhile, prepare yogurt-tahini sauce by whisking yogurt with tahini, lemon juice, and salt until smooth. Taste and adjust with salt and lemon juice, then let stand for about 10 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.

Serve kofta on warm pita bread or flatbread, topped with sliced red onions, pickles, fresh cucumber, lettuce, and drizzled with yogurt and tahini sauce.

Try this easy and delicious oven-baked kofta recipe. If you try it, don’t forget to share a photo with me on Instagram. I’d like to see how that goes.
