If a rich chocolate malt milkshake is your type of snack, wait until you scoop it into this chocolate malt ice cream.

Chocolate malt
One flavor of chocolate malt is everything I need to bring back to childhood. My granddad had made chocolate malts for us when we visited, but we carefully carried them upstairs and enjoyed walking out the two-storey doors and walking on the roof. Do you enjoy the excitement of being on the roof and the chilly chocolate malt milkshakes? Ah, it wasn’t beat.
This batch of chocolate malt ice cream quickly returned to visiting my grandparents in Dewey, Arizona in the summer. There are so many memories of the food we eat and I love when I can make something that brings me back today.
The most popular question I get is whether you can make ice cream without a machine. The answer is yes. You can make ice cream without a machine. Find the perfect direction here!
And if you love woppers or chocolate malt milk balls, you might get a bit engrossed with this chocolate malt crunch ice cream. The traditional chocolate malt ice cream adds a bit of fun from the chopped malt milk bowls.

Chocolate malt ice cream
Making this ice cream is pretty easy. No eggs are needed. This ice cream does not require a custard base. Simply put cream, cocoa powder, malt powder, sugar and salt in a pan and simmer.
Stir until the chocolate melts, add milk, then chill the ice cream base until it’s well and cool. Once the mixture has cooled, pour it into an ice cream maker and release it.
This ice cream can be made with milk chocolate, semi-sweet or dark chocolate. But just like dark chocolate is my favorite as a general rule, light chocolate brings a classic flavour due to the classic malt flavor.
Enjoy the ice cream directly from the machine for soft serve ice cream, or transfer it to the freezer until it’s firm enough to scoop into a cone or bowl.

Here you will find plenty of chocolate ice cream to satisfy the best chocolate lovers. My husband has two favorites and has been at the top of his loving list of ice cream for over a decade. The first is this spicy chocolate ice cream. It’s a cold and creamy chocolate with hints of spicy heat from chili peppers and cinnamon. Even when chilling from ice cream, it warms your mouth.
The second is rich, dark, extremely smooth, creamy chocolate, satisfying orange hints with sweet ice cream you’ve never tasted before. If you are skeptical of the chocolate and citrus combination, then there is only one flavor you need to convince you.
For some of my kids’ favorites, Kit Cat Ice Cream has everything you like from the kit candy bar swirled into each scoop of this homemade ice cream. Creamy chocolate ice cream with marshmallow swirls, crispy almonds and chocolate chips makes this old-fashioned heavenly hash ice cream.
Bubble in a batch of chocolate ice cream with chocolate covered cashews and swirl in caramel sauce, and the result is a bear claw ice cream that no one can resist. Homemade Rocky Road Ice Cream is a creamy chocolate and almond-flavored ice cream filled with chewy marshmallows, crunchy almonds and chocolate spots.
Give the brownies and ice cream on almost all other baked good cream combinations. So, of course, a bowl of chocolate ice cream filled with creepy chunks of brownies is calling my name out loud.
For the ultimate brownie ice cream combination, freshly baked chocolate ice cream is layered with bite-sized chunks of space brownies, scattered with miniature M&M candies to create this super fun space brownie ice cream.
There are also dairy-free chocolate ice creams. yes! It’s possible and it’s great!
Serving: 6 ½ cup serving
In a large pot, mix the cream, cocoa, malt powder, sugar and salt. Whisk, mix, heat over medium heat and stirring continuously, when it gathers and starts to steam and simmer. (You can increase the heat if necessary, but continue to stir non-stop. Do not leave at this point.)
Remove from the heat and immediately add the chocolate. Beat until the chocolate is completely melted. Stir in the milk and vanilla. Refrigerate and cool for at least 4 hours or overnight until completely cold.
Pour the mixture into an ice cream maker and process according to the machine’s instructions. Immediately serve soft serve ice cream or transfer it to the freezer to a safe storage container and freeze until ready.
