Creamy bacon and pea pasta (25 minute dinner)

Salty bacon and sweet peas are a very wonderful combination in this very simple pasta dish. Most of the recipes are made while the pasta is being cooked, and there are a few extra steps at the end, allowing you to put it all together. Perfect when you need to have dinner at the table right away without packing lots of ingredients!

I tossed it in a bowl of bacon and peas pasta, parsley and creamy sauce, finished with black pepper. Another bowl and scattered parsley, bacon and peas on the background.

Nikki’s recipe notes

I’ve made this dinner many times over the past few weeks. That’s my sausage and bacon pasta variation, honestly? I was able to eat it over and over again.
The ingredients are very simple – in addition to pasta, bacon, peas, cream and cheese, there is some extra flavor with onions, garlic and crushed stock cubes, but the result is *fancy more than it has the rights.
Those salty bacon lardons, sweet pops of peas, creamy garlic sauce – just heaven.
I like to use pasta shells as they scoop up a small pocket of that delicious sauce.

Why do I like this recipe so much?

It’s a great mid-week dinner. It’s easy, quick and very satisfying. While the pasta is cooked, the bacon and sauce are all made, so it’s efficient. A layer of flavour – garlic, bacon and parmesan give it a flavorful depth, while the peas give a slight hit of sweetness. You can swap pasta, but using a pasta shell means there’s a sauce catcher!! I would totally recommend it. It’s a great fridge raider. Add mushrooms, peppers, spinach, finely chopped broccoli and more.

Pro tips

Store some pasta cooking water and add it to the plate. This loosens the sauce and the starch in the water clings to the pasta, giving the sauce a silky finish.

? FAQ

Can I make it first?

I think this tastes great when it’s made and served immediately. It’s you’re going to get the creamiest sauce.
Reheating pasta in a creamy sauce can separate the oil in the sauce, making it slightly oily rather than a creamy taste.
but! Adding an extra splash of cream and an extra Parmesan can be revitalized when reheated.

If you want to proceed or reheat the leftovers, prepare the dish and immediately cool, cover and refrigerate.

(with extra cream and Parmesan) in the microwave for 3-4 minutes, or cover and cover, about 6-7 minutes until the chicken and pasta are hot all over. You will need to stir several times while reheating.

addition

If you want to add more vegetables, you can stir your baby spinach and chopped cherry tomatoes along with pre-cooked bacon at the last minute.
Mushrooms, peppers, zucchini (zucchini), broccoli, mange advertising, or small chunks of finely chopped green beans also work well. Add them at the same time as the onions.

Make it vegetarian:

Replace bacon lardon for chopped vegetarian sausages or vegetarian style bacon replacements. Replace the chicken stock cubes with vegetable cubes. Parmesan can also be exchanged for vegetarian Italian-style hard cheese.
