recipe tips
Here are some recipe tips to keep in mind when making it.
Boil the pasta until al dente. A slightly firmer pasta will have a better texture even after cooling. Wash the pasta with cold water. This will quickly cool the pasta and stop the cooking process. Drain the tuna well. Excess liquid can make the dressing watery. Chill before serving. Refrigerate the salad for at least 2 hours to help the flavors meld. Cut the vegetables into small cubes. The small pieces will be evenly distributed throughout the salad and will improve the texture. Refresh before serving. The pasta will absorb the dressing if left out, so add a spoonful of mayonnaise if desired and stir before serving. If serving outdoors, please refrigerate. Do not leave it for more than 2 hours, or for more than 1 hour in the hot sun.

Spicy or tangy pasta salad: Add chopped pickled bell peppers for a little heat, or sliced pickled pepperoncini for a tangy, salty flavor that pairs especially well with creamy dressings.
Dill Tuna Pasta Salad: Add fresh dill or a spoonful of dill relish for a bright herbal flavor.
Egg Tuna Macaroni Salad: Add chopped boiled eggs for a richer, heartier version. It’s like a combination of tuna salad and deviled egg pasta salad.
Light Tuna and Macaroni Salad: Replace some of the mayonnaise with Greek yogurt for a lighter dressing.
