The Dutch Apple Fritter Bread is the perfect autumn snack! It’s moist, flavorful and packed with soft apples, brown sugar and cinnamon. It drizzled on top with delicious yogurt glaze.
Meet the fall baking plan for the weekend!
When I was little, I was obsessed with Dutch apple yogurt. That’s right, in the 80s, Danon made vanilla yogurt with cinnamon apples on the bottom of the cup.
that. It was. . The best.
I spent only a little at the time. Oatmeal (including brown sugar), peanut butter and jelly sandwich, and dutch apple yogurt. Sadly, they don’t make it anymore – but if that’s the case… I’d buy it all. I really don’t eat yogurt unless you count Greek yogurt. It’s usually in something, but I go back to my roots.
Needless to say, this heavenly autumn bread (I want to call a cake – just that cake?) is based on my nostalgic love for that yogurt. Cinnamon brown sugar apples are layered with tangy yogurt cakes.
To make this Dutch apple fritter pan, you will need it:
Dark Brown Sugar – Adds sweetness and flavor. Cinnamon (ground) – lends a unique warm, woody flavour. Apples – I like to use honeycrisp for this recipe. Granule Sugar (White) – Also lends you a sweetness. Unsalted butter (softs at room temperature) – Gives richness and flavor. Eggs – lends you a richness and flavor. Vanilla Extract – lends you warmth and enhances the flavor of your peach filling. Unbleached All-purpose flour – Cake batter base, gives the cake structure. Baking Powder – Makes the batter lighter and it rises. Baking Soda – Creates gas during baking and helps the cake rise. Kefir Yogurt – lends a tangy flavor and gives the glaze a creamy consistency. Alternatively, use vanilla Greek yogurt thinned with a small amount of milk. Powdered sugar – sweeten and thicken the gl drug.
Preheat the oven to 350°C (or 180).
Next, start by combining it with 1/3 cup of dark brown sugar and 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon. Once combined, place this sideways.
In another bowl, combine two peeled (medium size) apples with 2 tablespoons of granulated sugar and 2 teaspoons of ground cinnamon.
Once they’re fully combined, place this on the side.
Next, in a mixing bowl, mix 1/2 cup of salt-free butter with granulated sugar.
Mix until smooth and pale – about 4-5 minutes. Add the eggs one at a time and mix well after each egg. Add the vanilla extract and mix until combined.
Combine 1-1/2 cups of unbleached all-purpose flour with 1-1/2 teaspoon baking powder and 1/2 teaspoon baking soda.
Add half of the dry ingredients to the wet one.
Alternately add vanilla kefir. repeat.
Mix until smooth
Pour 1/2 of the batter into greased standard (9×5) bread.
Tops 1/2 of the apple.
Sprinkle half of the brown sugar on top.
Repeat with batter, apple and brown sugar cinnamon.
Bake in a preheated oven for 45-55 minutes or until tester attaches some crumbs and comes out.
And it smells like a slice of heaven.
Once the bread is cool, combine 1/2 cup of powdered sugar with plenty of kefir to make the glaze.
Sprinkle yogurt glaze over the cooled cake.
Cut and serve. Of course, with the drizzle of extra glaze.
How to store Dutch Apple Fritter Pans:
Once the bread is completely cooled, wrap the double wrap in plastic wrap and store at room temperature.
How long does the Dutch apple fritter pan last?
If stored properly, this bread lasts for 2-3 days.
