If you love cookies and cream, this vegan Oreo protein shake will add to your daily routine. Contains approximately 25 grams of clean vegan protein and blends it into a creamy shake with real Oreo flavor. It tastes like a classic milkshake, but with long-lasting energy.

got it. I’m obsessed with anything cookies and cream related. So anything quick and easy (like a chocolate chip mug cake) is fine. Especially if it has added protein.

This vegan cookies and cream protein shake is definitely a indulgence. I try to make this when I need dessert but also need some protein in my meal.

Why you’ll love this dairy-free protein-packed Oreo milkshake

Sometimes you want a high-protein shake that’s not just chocolate or vanilla. This dairy-free protein-packed Oreo milkshake does just that.

Here’s why you’ll love this recipe.

Tastes Like a Milkshake: Tastes like a real cookies and cream milkshake, but with plenty of plant-based protein. No sugar crash: Protein gives you staying power so you won’t have a crash later. Easy to make: ready in 5 minutes. Helpful when you’re in a hurry but still want to hit your protein goals. Made for Alternative Meals: Dairy-Free and Vegan Friendly

Main Ingredients to Make Oreo Protein Shake

See the recipe card below for a complete list of ingredients, quantities, and instructions. Introducing the main ingredients at a glance.

Main ingredients of Oreo protein shake

Dairy-free ice cream. You can use vanilla or chocolate here. Make sure to soften it a bit so the shake blends smoothly.

If you prefer a lighter version, try this easy chocolate cream made from frozen bananas, milk and cocoa powder.

Unsweetened almond milk or plant-based milk.

Vegan protein powder. Vanilla works best. This recipe uses Nuzest pea protein powder.

Cookies & cream flavored Oreo cookies. There’s always debate as to whether Oreos are vegan, but if you’re choosing a strict vegan diet, you can use alternatives like Rip Van Crème Sandwich Cookies or Goody Girl Cookies.

Optional toppings such as vegan whipped cream or a light chocolate drizzle are also available.

How to make an oreo protein shake

First, let the ice cream stand for a few minutes. It needs to be soft enough that the blender doesn’t push it too hard. Additionally, this ensures that your shake blends evenly.

Add softened ice cream, a little milk, a tablespoon of protein powder, and cookies to a blender.

Blend until smooth. Enjoy the shake. If it’s too thick, add milk and mix again.

If you want a thicker shake with more cookie flavor, add another cookie and blend for a shorter time. By blending for a short time, the cookie parts remain intact.

Pour into glasses and add toppings. If you’re making more than one person, you can blend everything at once, but be sure to leave some space at the top of the blender so the shakes blend evenly.

Shake these high-protein Oreos any way you want!

For a thick shake: Add less milk and mix slowly.

If you want more protein: Add half a spoonful at a time to avoid a chalky taste. Taste after each blend.

For a chunky cookie flavor: Add extra cookies at the end instead of mixing completely.

For a lighter version: use frozen bananas instead of ice cream. The taste will change slightly, but the creaminess will remain the same.

Important tips for success

This vegan cookies and cream protein shake is super beginner-friendly, so you can’t go wrong with it. However, here are some tips that I recommend.

Let the ice cream sit for 15-20 minutes before scooping it in a blender. The softer it is, the faster it will mix. To make a thick shake, add milk little by little to control the thickness.

FAQ

Can I use regular Oreos?

yes. There’s always debate as to whether Oreos are vegan or not, but if you’re following a strictly vegan diet, you can use Rip Van cookies or Goody Girl cookies.

Which protein powder is most effective?

You can use any protein powder you like. For this recipe, I chose Nuzest, a plant-based protein powder. Orgain Organic Vegan Protein is another great vegan protein band that pairs well with shakes.

Can I make this nut free?

yes. Use oat milk or soy milk instead of almond milk.

Can I save leftovers?

I recommend not doing that. This shake tastes best right after blending. The texture will change if left long enough, especially if you add protein powder.

Instructions

Let the dairy-free vanilla ice cream soften slightly at room temperature to make it easier to mix.

In a blender, combine softened dairy-free vanilla ice cream, unsweetened almond milk, vegan protein powder, and 4 to 5 vegan Oreo cookies (or chocolate sandwich cookies). Blend on high speed until smooth and creamy. If it’s too thick, add a little more almond milk. If it’s too thin, add a little more cookie or ice cream.

Pour the milkshake into a glass. If desired, top with vegan whipped cream, crushed Oreo cookies, and a drizzle of decadent vegan chocolate sauce.

Serve immediately and enjoy this delicious vegan protein milkshake with ice cream and Oreos for a special treat.

Precautions

Notes and tips:

Use a high-quality vegan protein powder with a mild flavor so it doesn’t overpower the taste of the cookies and cream.

If protein powder makes your shake too thick, add a little almond milk to adjust the consistency.

For an extra boost of protein, add half a frozen banana or a spoonful of peanut butter.

Serve immediately for best texture. The shake will thicken if you let it sit.
